Curcuminoids (curcumin) are the active ingredient of turmeric, pure turmeric itself contains less than 5% curcumin. As such turmeric and standard curcuminoid extracts are poorly absorbed by the body, hence rapidly eliminated. Therefore, increasing absorption is key to unlocking the myriad of benefits this powerful anti-inflammatory has to offer.

Curcumin is often combined with piperine (black pepper extract) to assist in overcoming absorption issues.
