De-Stuff with Kiwiherb

When the stuffy noses and sinus headaches start to creep in, Kiwiherb has you covered! Here are our top tips to support clear noses for a winter of easy breathing.

1. De-Stuff with Kiwiherb

Kiwiherb’s Organic De-Stuff for adults and Organic De-Stuff for Kids provide a natural, effective way to help clear a stuffy nose. They both contain the potent herb Ribwort, traditionally used to help clear ears, noses and sinuses. Elderflower and Echinacea then support easy breathing and healthy immune function, with peppermint providing great flavour while  providing extra support for blocked noses..  These herbs are certified organic for the ultimate in potency, purity and effectiveness for you and your family.

2. Add in a chest rub

Traditionally used to support clear airways, soothing balms are an ideal way to encourage a clear chest and sinuses. Organic De-Stuff Rub combines the essential oils of peppermint, eucalyptus, Scotch pine needle, thyme, rosemary, and lavender, to gently warm and calm the chest. The nurturing touch of massaging a rub on is a soothing support all on its own, with the added benefits of inhaling herbal extracts to clear blocked and stuffy noses. Kiwiherb's Organic Baby Balm can be a suitable balm option for those under 2, with soothing calendula, chamomile, and koromiko combined with lavender and thyme essential oils.

3. Spice up your day

Heating spices, like cinnamon, cayenne pepper, turmeric, garlic, and ginger can be added to a meal to aid in opening the sinuses.  This will need to be measured carefully to cater to your own tastes and to those of sensitive little mouths. Combine this with warming herbal tea, and a diet full of fresh fruits and vegetables as a delicious way to support the body’s recovery from illness.

4. Get salty

Saline nasal rinsing or ‘nasal irrigation’ isn’t for everyone, but it can be a helpful way to clear the nostrils. Sterile saline solution is available from the pharmacy, and can aid in reducing the amount of mucus and prevalence of post-nasal drip, giving the sinuses a good flush out.

5. Breathe in the vapour

Essential oils have been traditionally used for centuries to help clear airways and ease breathing; however, dosing is very important for little ones. Adding one drop of lavender to 10mL of carrier oil and into a bath allows dispersion in a safe way, and is enough for those under two. A drop of eucalyptus or peppermint oil in a diffuser or on a hanky is another option that can support clearer airways.
